Couldn’t withhold some more mind-stimulating material from Daniel Quinn’s ”Beyond Civilization”:
”If the world is to be saved, it will not be by old minds with new programs but by new minds with no programs at all.”
Now that is a blow in the stomach for a guy like me that prides himself for being smart and thinking out new schemes for a number of small and big problems around me. Argh.
So what’s the difference between an old and new mind? Quinn writes:
Old minds think:
How do we stop these bad things from happening?
New minds think:
How do we make things the way we want them to be?
Now this makes sense. We should ge out of the problem solving business and get into the creating a future that works business.
