…consumerism. I’m watching the very entertaining match between Germany and Portugal at Euro 2008. But the commercial breaks are horrible. Who do they think I am? A wandering open wallet just waiting for the next great offer served in a 20 second spot? Come on!
With other glasses – and zooming out, these breaks are a magnificent show of the consumer society. The logic is so obvious. We bring you great football – you buy our stuff. If you don’t buy we’ll nag you until you do. But how long can the nagging go on…? It is getting quite irritating…
